“Pure Religion and Undefiled . . .” November 6, 2005

In verse 3 of Jude, we are commanded to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints.” This is the key phrase in the key verse of this small, but important book.

In essence, Jude is exhorting us to strive fervently for truth that was delivered once for all. This faith without innovation is the Gospel that was passed from the apostles and is distinct from the adulterations of false teachers.

This is the central theme and thrust of the book — to warn of perverted truth and advise on avoiding the accompanying dangers.
